Review of Future Industrial Areas (2009)

The Review of Future Industrial Areas was prepared by CPG Australia in June 2009. It assessed the supply, demand, and location of future industrial land across the City of Ballarat.

Background

Prepared concurrently with the ballarat-west-growth-area-plan (2009), this review informed the industrial land supply component of Ballarat’s growth planning. It built on the earlier Ballarat Industrial Land Use Strategy (Connell Wagner, 2005). (Source: ballarat-review-of-future-industrial-areas_final-report_june-2009_cpg-australia-1-.txt)

Key Content

The review assessed:

  • Existing industrial land supply and take-up rates
  • Future industrial land demand analysis
  • Suitable locations for future industrial development
  • Recommendations for zoning and policy changes

The review’s findings informed the establishment of the ballarat-west-employment-zone and the industrial/commercial precinct within the ballarat-west-psp.

Current Status

Adopted (June 2009). Subsequently informed by the HillPDA Employment Lands Strategy (Draft, July 2021) and a further updated assessment being prepared as of 2024. The growth-areas-framework-plan identifies future employment land supply exploration areas to the west of the NW Growth Area and south-west of the Western Growth Area.
